RBYC-Royal Brighton Yacht Club

I have to tell you all about something that has been going on that I think is absolutely hilarious.

A few weeks ago..sometime in the beginning of February. I started receiving some interesting emails. At first I thought it was spam and deleted them. I now wish I had kept the emails. After I kept getting more and more and they all seemed to be about they same thing and they actually didn't look like spam and I started reading them. This was the email that made me realize it was not spam. It you can see there is a name and spreadsheets.

Turns out there are other organizations who have fights over email. I digress.

After receiving this email I then did some investigating. I can't remember all the steps I made to find this site. I think I searched Simon and Royal Brighton Yacht Club and this is what I came up with. Click on the picture it's a link.

Anyway somehow my email address made it on this email list. It seems to be a presegious email list...and that not everyone can be on it. It seems to be a group of racing officials for the Yacht club. So I sent an email to paul, another one of the racing officials, actually patrick wrote it, I said....
it seems as though my email address is mistakenly being used in your correspondence. please remove me from this email group.
thanks
But i still kept getting them in mass. It was never a direct email to me from someone and I didn't know who I was and didn't know if any of the emails were directly for me. Anyway yesterday I received an email from Deborah, and only Deborah, no one else was part of the email. I made a discovery with this email. My name is John. So I took the opprotunity and emailed Deborah about it.

This is what I recieved from her.

Hi John

Are you able to provide the contact details for the powerboat owners at RBYC.

I would like to contact them re the Dragon Worlds in Jan 2010.

As per our meeting with the Dragons 2 weeks ago - we are looking for a power boat to be used as a Tow Boat and looking for a boat to be used as a Jury Boat.

We will probably also have requirements for spectator boats, media boats etc.

Are you happy for me to send them email - inviting them to be involved or would you prefer if I drafted the email and it was sent from you?

Cheers Deborah

and this is what I sent Deborah.
Hi Deborah,

My name is Elizabeth Spencer. I work and live in Orem, Utah in the USA. It's about 30 minutes away from Salt Lake City where they hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. I've been receiving you're Royal Brighton Yacht Clubs communications for a while now. I've sent some emails out about it but my email has not been removed from the list. It's not been a bother, but I figure the person who is suppose to receive these emails, John, might want to start receiving them. You're more than welcome to continue sending me emails, but be aware they are being sent to someone an ocean away. Good luck with the races and have a wonderful day.
I'll keep you updated as to what happens.

Weekly Update #3...I think

A lot has happened this past week.

1. Like I said in my earlier post Lindsey and Brice came up for the NCAA Tournament games at Energy Solutions Arena. I have to say it was totally awesome. It was a lot of fun to watch 3 games that had so much at steak. We saw butler beat syracuse and Kansas st. beat xavier. by they way that was the best game that night. It was so exciting, it went into double over time. It didn't look like it was going to end like that. The game was pretty bad the first half and then Xavier made an amazing come back. Words can not describe. Then on Saturday we saw Butler beat Kansas St, even though the arena was practically purple. There were so many people there routing for Kansas St. I would do this again in a heart beat. Next year the final 4 and the championship game is going to be in Houston. We've decided to put our names in lottery. I don't see why we can't go out to Houston next April. Anyone want to join? Yes, I've just invited myself to Dad and Venieces without asking. On Thursday night we finally, after talking about it with them for like 2 years, took them to Sigfried's. It's a German cafe in Salt Lake....it has incredible food. Get the Wienerschitzle!

2. Audrey had a great time with her babysitters. She really liked Katie and Sarah on Thursday. I had 2 girls for the job since it would be so long. Katie baby sat from 3-7 and then Sarah came from 7 to about 11:30. After all the game went into DOUBLE OVERTIME! can you tell that I am thrilled that I got to see that? Carrie and Nate watched Audrey for the Saturday game. You'll have to ask Carrie and Nate what happened while she was there. I know that at one point she fell asleep on their couch. CUTE! Again thank you, thank you, thank you for doing that.

3. Friday we went to Tucanos at the Gateway and met up with the Craftons, the Frees and then Betsy and her boyfriend Bret. Total there were 15 people...including kids. That's a lot. Audrey loved playing with her cousin Cosy. Looks like Tyler is no longer the favorite cousin. Audrey talks about her non stop and the two of them were inseparable.

It's April 20th today...I forgot I started writing this and figured I should post it for memories sake. I can't remember what else I was going to write.

Awesome Deal! Again!

I don't know if you remember my last post about an awesome deal. If you don't remember here is the link to it.

This time the deal was for Toy Story and Toy Story 2.

To get this deal you can only do it at Target, Babies r us or Best Buy. However I have to confess. Lindsey actually did the deal making. Patrick searched all three stores yesterday and they were sold out of the Blu-ray/DVD combo packs. The had plenty of DVD/Blu-ray combos but we want the Blu-ray packaging. Yes, We are weird. Anyway...Lindsey found one in Las Vegas and since they are driving up today. It's no biggie.

They're coming up for March Madness. We (Patrick, me, Lindsey and Brice) have tickets to the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games being held at Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake. Commence with the jealously.....NOW! I am way excited about the games. We've had these puppies since June. JUNE! 9 months. We could have had a munchkin by now. Moving on.

Target was selling the Blu-Ray/DVD pack for $22.99 each for a total of $45.98. Target, and the two other stores, had a deal that if you bought both movies you would get $10 off the total purchase price. That's in the store you don't need the a coupon for that. Bringing it down to $35.98. Then Disney had a manufactures coupon for $10 off each movie. Seriously $20 bucks off. Bringing it down to $15.98 for the two Blu-ray movies, plus DVD, plus Digital Copy. I think with tax it was a little over $18. That's 9 bucks a movie. Incredible.

Have I told you how much I love deals?

If you want the extra manufactures coupon email me. Patrick has it saved in his email. I'll send it to you.

Weekly Update

Couple things

Patrick is sick...again. I sent him to the instacare yesterday because he was complaining of stuff coming out of his eye. I was afraid it was pink eye from Audrey and figured it would be better to kill it now than later. It ended up not being pink eye just a really bad cold. Seriously what is wrong with us. I know that when your stressed your immune system is weak but man oh man can it be any weaker? It seems that if anyone around us has a cough or a sniffle we get it 10 fold. Ugh! I'm just annoyed with being sick all the time. I can't wait for warm weather.

Speaking of which. I spent the week sleeping on the couch, SHHHHH! were having marital problems. There I said it. It's out in the open......Just Kidding, No were not having marital problems. We're doing great. I had a really bad cough that would flare up every time I would get into bed and the only way to appease the cough was to sit up. But I would end up falling off my large pillow pile and would slip between my large stack and Patricks pillow and then the coughing would commence. For 2 nights patrick left the bed and slept on the couch because the coughing was so bad. And then I decided it wouldn't be fair to him to sleep on the couch all week. And I have to say the couch wasn't so bad. It was pretty comfy and it helped the cough.

Going back to yesterday. Patrick was gone for about and hour and a half. He got back at about 12:15. I was planning on taking audrey to church but was waiting for him to get home so I could get in the shower. I figured I could show up for the last 2 hours of church so Audrey could go to primary. It wasn't a big deal. So patrick gets home and I ask, since he has shoes on, to take out the trash...I know mean wife...and while he was out, seriously like 30 seconds, Audrey starts crying and then coughing and then wouldn't you know it the thing vomited all over me, the couch and the carpet. It was nasty. She showed no signs of being ill before the episode. But I didn't want to risk it so I threw her is the bath, washed her hair, blow dried it and then put her down for a nap. She slept from 12:45ish to 4:30. Not kidding. I don't know if she was tired or sick. she woke up just fine, no fever, no nothing. She was hungry and asked for a sandwich. I'm thinking I didn't properly judge how upset she really was. As you know this is not the first time she's thrown up because she was upset. Anyway I didn't have carpet cleaner so I sent the sick Patrick out to the store to get carpet cleaner and some drugs to make himself feel better. I ended up spending the afternoon cleaning. I did all the dishes, swept and mopped, cleaned the bathroom, straighten up the living room, and did a couple loads of laundry. I was pretty proud. Nothing like a clean home especially when the Visiting Teachers are coming over.

Moving on....Audrey is getting better at counting.

right now it's 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 18. 19, and 20. Lots of missing numbers but no big deal, she's learning. We're really working on 4 and 5. It's cute.

Any letter she sees, And I mean any letter, starts her singing the alphabet. It's starts out good A, B, C, D, E, F, and then she skips to J, and then O, P, then from there is 5 minutes of singing random letters she can remember. Again super cute.

She has a new favorite song...Skinnamarink. I learned it from watching the Elephant show. Here's video...Michelle & Katherine you'll love this.

Audrey really likes singing it and requests it often. I think she likes the waving hands.

Pretty much the last few days have been filled with NCAA March Madness. Seriously, we recorded 12 hours of Basketball on Friday. I don't think patrick watched all of it...but enough.

On Saturday we went up to Layton to the Classic Fun Center for Cozy's Birthday Party. Audrey had a ton of Fun. I have video that I've been meaning to upload to you tube. Maybe I can get it up today. She really loved it. She ran around and around and was screaming and laughing. It was incredible cute. I love it when she is having fun and laughing it make me happy. I know, sound dorky, but it really does make me happy to see Audrey having fun.

It really wasn't the worlds most exciting week. I spent most of the week at home. The coughing just killed me I was so tired that I couldn't wake up in the morning and ended up going to work a few hours late.

I think that's it.

Assignment #7

This weeks assignment was pretty interesting.

A guy by they name of Tom Heal came in and asked the class to design a real estate brochure. This was a real life project. He's going to be giving the student with the best design $100 and then will use it for his business. I'm not going to lie...I'm a little excited about it.

This is what I came up with.

This would be printed front and back.

Page 1

Page 2

This would be incase he decides to only have a single page brochure.

What do you think?

I'll let you know if I win

Weekly Update

I told you I really only have time to write one post a week.

A few things that have happened.

Patrick and I are no longer Nursery leaders. I'm a little sad and happy about that.

Audrey has pink eye...and maybe an ear infection. I had to stay home on Monday because she can't go to daycare until 24 hours after she started the medication. I took her to the doctor on Sunday. And no she did not go to primary. We did the sacrament meeting thing and then went home...she was looking ill and I didn't want her to get the others sick.

The on Tuesday morning her eye was still pussing, EWE, and Patrick didn't think that would be a good thing to have at daycare. So he took the morning shift and I took the afternoon.

We have to put eye drops in 3 times a day. It's been tough she HATES it, and I mean HATES it.

Saturday was the Riverton Competition. The girls took 3rd.

Here is the video..

It was a really bad competition. We were stuck between the 25 AF girls and the 25 Davis girls. I guess both teams, just a few of them...not all the girls, were being a little mean to the Orem Girls and said some stuff to them. I don't want to go into detail but that's just not cool. Be nice people....it's a competition not a WAR.

Then on top of that the music "skipped" and the kid turned it off 5 seconds into it. And then he didn't properly restart them and the Timing and Penalties Judge had to tell him to restart over and over. He did it wrong 4 times. On the 5th time he got it. That would Ice even the best performers. Even though it was a tough start. I thought it was a pretty good show, but we still have loads to do.

Patrick is still stressed to no end. We are past midterms and only have 5 more weeks. BYU's finals start on April 16th. The spring and summer terms are going to be a breeze compared to this winter semester. We can't wait.

Nothing else is happening. I'm starting to think about the summer and marching band and what I am going to do about a guard. All 4 of my girls are seniors. I'm starting fresh this next year. I'm going to have to do some serious recruiting.

I think that's it.

Assignment #6

I'm like 2 weeks behind...but that's okay.

For this assignment we met at a studio in the area. I believe it's my teachers studio.

Click on the picture below to link to his site. He really is great.

Anyway, We met at his studio and learned about lighting, and posing, and broad light and short light, and angle of incident light...and it goes on and on, I think I learned more in this class than any other. We also had the chance to use the studios lights. It was pretty cool. I got the put a receiver thingy in the hot shoe, that made the lights go off. (I keep calling it a horse shoe...why? I don't know.)

These are the 5 Images that I am turning in.

This girl was hard to work with...and, as you can see, she wore this GIANT sweater that didn't give her a flattering figure. It's only suppose to be a head and shoulders shot. Good thing I stayed back, the sweater made it look bad. And I had to turn this into a Black and white because it looked weird with a white background and a black outfit. The only color was coming from her face. It was odd. Can you tell I was not too fond of her. And this was the best image of the 15 I have of her. It was annoying.

This is my favorite

This is Whitney. She was really nice and super easy to work with. She was willing to move around and listen to what you asked her to do. I really liked her.

The last image of her was the "One chance" photo. We had to position her and then set the camera to the proper setting and take the shot. It was to prove we understand lighting and camera setting...I still don't. But I think I did a pretty good job.

This was Maria or Marie, I can't remember. She gave funny faces, you would to if you had to have 13 people take the same picture of you, but was really nice.

What do you think?

I'm a little proud.

Week 5 Assignment

Our assignment for week 5 was to bring in 3 images.

A landscape
An architectural image
and a portrait

and we would then convert them to black and white....rather learn to properly convert the image to a black and white.

Obviously the color image is the original and the black and white is the one I created and then printed at Costco. It was part of the assignment.

This was my portrait

I really do think the black and white turned out really nice. I don't think it turned out as nice in the print. I think I need to tweak it a little more to get the look I'm going for.

This is my Landscape. I think the print of this turned out amazing. You can almost see the texture of the grass. I love it. Grandma I hope you like it too.

And this is my architecture image.

Again the print did not come out the way I wanted it. It felt very flat. But I think the Black and White here looks amazing. I think you see the name a little better with the black and white image.

What do you think?

Weekly Update

Turns out I was way off on my Olympic Hockey Bracket. But....like I said all I really cared about was that we, as in the USA, would go to the final game.

It was such and intense game. I loved it.

It was funny to see all the comments made on Facebook about it. I bet 80% of those who commented about the game don't watch Hockey on a regular basis and don't even have a team to route for.

My favorite was from a friend of mine and I quote "BOO team USA!!! they played like idiots!!! Practically gave the gold away...."

What I love about this comment is that she took some very basic viewer comments, that everyone says for any sport and applied them to the game. I bet she never watches Hockey. I would bet $100 on that fact.

I totally disagree. Without getting into detail about it....because what she said pissed me off to no end. I don't think they played very well at first....note Canada was up 2-0 at one point. But the fact that the US ended up tying the game at 24 seconds left is pretty amazing. The odds were against us going into overtime. I'm making this too long....I just think it was funny that I ended up calling her out on it. I love calling people out on things. Don't you?

P.S. I love Hockey....Go RED WINGS....Colorado Avalanche SUCK!!! that was for Amy and Matt. :) I'm just kidding. Love you.

I figure since life is getting just too hecktic. I would give you weekly updates for now on.

Last night we went up to Salt Lake to visit Betsy, who we have not seen in over 2 years. Audrey loved playing with Cozy. I hope we are able to visit more often so Audrey gets to have another playmate.

Audrey loves to sing. Right now her favorite songs are...and I believe they are in order.
  • twinkle twinkle little star
  • the wheels on the bus
  • the Eensy Weensy spider (seriously how is that spelt? I found like 4 variation trying to make sure I was spelling it correct.)
  • Baby Bumble Bee
  • Teasing Mr. Crocodile
  • Speckled frogs
I can't think of any others. She learns them all from Daycare. Yeah, we had to enroll Audrey in Daycare full time.

She was at Colleens for the fall for about 6-7 hours a week and then figured for the spring semester I could take time off work and work late so that Patrick could go to class and I would be home with her, but after trying that for like a week, we figured we needed to enroll her in daycare full time. So she's been there for a while now and loves it. She is a Panda. Sorry Colleen.

They potty training is becoming a disaster. She sort of refuses to learn. We had ended up having her be undieless for most of Sunday. Just so she would be forced to learn. It worked for a little while. We did have one accident.

I'm going to do it every evening from now on. Hopefully she learns. I really want to be done with changing a baby and have a BIG GIRL!

She has learned how to turn on and watch a DVD. We moved our old, old, old giant tv into her room and bought a $20 DVD player. She will put a movie in and turn the volume down really low so that I can't hear it during her nap times. It's pretty funny. I just laugh, go in and turn it off. She's not cried that I've turned it off yet...she just giggles about being caught. She can be so cute sometimes.

What are some other things that happened this week?

We finally booked tickets for our summer plans. We are going to Washington D.C. from May 26th-June 3rd. Then from there we fly to Texas for Matts graduation. I then come home on June 9th and Audrey will stay for another week or so. Poor Patrick he won't see me for 2 weeks and won't see Audrey for at least 3....or never....I'm sure Dad and Veniece would be content to have her for the rest of her life.

I'm really excited about the trip.

Next week is Grandpa's 80th Birthday party. Katherine is not going, and Patrick can't because of his classes. I'm really not interested in driving 10 hours by myself. Is there anyone from the Utah area that wouldn't mind giving me and Audrey a ride? Otherwise I think we are going to miss it. I am so sad about that. I hope everyone has a grand time.

Wow, my weekly update was pretty long. Sorry I don't think they will be as long next time.

and by the way I turn 26 in a month....not excited about that. I'll officially be closer to 30 than 20. Sad day!
