Halloween

I totally forgot that I didn't post about Halloween and our adventures during that month.

In September we bought Audrey costume. She wanted to be Rapunzel and if we didn't get it early we wouldn't be getting it at all. I originally thought that I was just going to make the costume but after looking at the pattern ($16.00) and looking at the fabric (about $25) and then the time that it would have taken to sew the dress (3-4 hours) the $45 from the Disney store wasn't sounding half bad.

We ended up getting her some light up shoes and the Rapunzel wig. I think the total for everything was like $65 or so. Not bad (at least I didn't think so).

About a week before Halloween Audrey was getting watched by Patricks mom and he decided he wanted to go to something haunted...we ended up going to the haunted forest in American Fork. In hindsight we should have payed the $5.00 extra to skip to the head of the line. We stood in line for over an hour and then the forest took over and hour to get through. It was a ton of fun and really funny.

*when I get in a scary situation I tend to start to giggle about it and I was just giggling the entire time.

You weren't allowed to touch the actors but there were a few times where they were so close to me that I wanted to reach out and tickle them. It was pretty great. I had never done the haunted forest before.

By the end of it we were pretty much done with the whole thing and felt that it was about 15 minutes too long. But we are old fogies and I bed the teenagers didn't think it was long enough.

On the Sunday before Halloween (the day before) we went over to my moms to carve pumpkins. Audrey of course wanted to carve a cat.

 

Audrey's is on the far right, mine is the jack, the happy face is Collins brother Justins, and the far left pumpkin is Katherine and Collins. By the time we got to Patricks pumpkin we were all carved out and never carved his.

On Halloween we went trick or treating around the neighborhood and that was a ton of  fun. Here she is in her costume.

This past month we also got a piano here is Patrick and Audrey singing some church songs and Audrey singing making up her own words to the song.

It's a Girl

So baby number two is a little girl. We have no names picked out. Which is sad, so we'll have to figure it out soon. Here are some adorable pictures of our little monster who should grace us with her presence at the end of march/beginning of April.

She is measuring about a few days behind. I'm not worried about it because Audrey was petite. No 10 lbs babies for Lizzie (knock on wood).  

13 Weeks and about our Month

Today I am 13 weeks. I am officially out of my first trimester. I really hope the morning sickness goes away now. It's been non stop for the past 6 weeks. Seriously, this baby does not like it's momma.

It's been a jam packed month of fun for the Spencer Family. Its a long post but tons of fun stuff. It you read just one part of the post read the part about the Alpine Loop near the bottom.

For Labor Day Weekend we drove down to Las Vegas to visit the Craftons. It was our first family vacation in over a year. We did some shopping, but mainly we just sat around and enjoyed our time together. Audrey and Tyler were inseparable the full 3 days that we were there. They just ran around and around and around. One fun thing that we did was we ended up going to the Tournament of Kings a the Excalibur. It was lame and AWESOME at the same time. The kids loved it.

On Friday the 9th, Karen had her final Surgery. It went really well the surgeon said. It didn't take as long as they thought and the scar is smaller than the size of a nickle. Not too shabby. This Surgery was at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. I've never been to that building before now. It was beautiful. I mean really just gorgeous. I should have taken more pictures of the Hospital but I didn't want to look like a tourist in a cancer hospital. I mean really.

If she had been on the other side of the building she would have had a view of the entire valley. I thought the being right up on the Mountain was better.

Then the next weekend was the BYU vs. Utah Football game/blowout. We are in love with our tickets. Great seats next to some really awesome fans. I enjoy being in the cougar club seats and not the student section. Patrick misses the student section.

On Thursday the 22nd was the Jimmer Allstar Game at the Marriot Center. That was TONS of fun. It was great to see some amazing players on the Marriott Center court. Audrey had a blast and was such a good little sports fan. 

On Friday the 23rd was the BYU vs. Central Florida Game. Mom agreed to watch Audrey for the game but at the last minute decided she wanted to go to the game. So she got herself and Audrey a ticket. 

The Game started at 6. I ended up leaving the office at about 4:30 (I told patrick to go as early as he wanted I would just go with my mom and Audrey) It took me over an hour to get from UVU to my place, to the day care and up to my moms. So we didn't leave moms until after the game had started. 

Normally we park about a 1/4 of a mile away from the stadium but I didn't want Audrey walking that far. The plan was to get as close to the stadium as possible and then drop the two of us off and then Mom would back track to our parking spot. 

We pull into the Paleontology Museums parking lot and low and behold there are about 15 spots open. Another car had just pulled up and was trying to figure out if the lot was open and if we could park there. We figured it was okay but we were all a little nervous about it and then a State Trooper pulled up and we asked him if we could park in the lot. He didn't think it would be a problem and then he himself took one of the spots. So we stayed. I have never parked closer to the stadium than that. AMAZING!

There was plenty of space by Patrick and I so Mom and Audrey hung around us the entire game. When there was about 10 minutes left in the 4th Audrey announced that she was tired and wanted to go home. And I was starting to feel pretty sick. So we packed up and walked out to our AMAZING spot and drove home in zero traffic. Not a bad Game day. Not bad at all. 

Then on Saturday the 24th Andy and Gretchen Blessed their little girl Addalyn (Addy) and yet again Audrey spent the day running around with her Cousins Tyler and Cozy. We also got to meet Betsy's new little boy Mason. Such a cutie and looks just like his dad. 

Then Yesterday before the Craftons drove back to Vegas we drove the Alpine Loop to see the changing leaves. It was such a pretty drive. We put Tyler in the car with us and the two little ones just had so much fun looking out the windows and looking at everything together. They were trying to see who had the cooler/better things on their side of the car. At one point we had the American Fork side of the Alpine loop to our left (audreys side) and a steep slope to our right (tylers side). Audrey was saying "look at the mountains over there" and tyler said "look at the MOUNTAIN right HERE." It just went back and forth pretty much the entire time.

 

Near the end of the drive Patrick began talking to the two and somehow it came up that it would be silly if boys wear dresses and Tyler admits that once he had a dream that he wore a dress and Patrick (busting up of course) says "Oh, does your dad know about this?" and he said no and to not tell his mom and dad because they would laugh at him. Sorry Tyler I spilled the beans.

You would think that the end of this crazy busy month would be over but alas, I have a sealing I need to go to in the St. George Temple this weekend.

Save the Date for baby Spencer - 04.03.12

So it's official. Patrick and I are expecting another little monster. For years I've had big annoucements and I always had to preface the annoucement with NO we are not Pregnant. But now I can officially say.

YES! WE ARE PREGNANT.

I told you that we weren't planning on expanding our family until we were both finished with school. Patrick finished last December and I finished on August 12th. So hence the soon to be addition to our family.

I decided to tell my mom by making that little save the date poster (pictured above), printing it and then putting it in a frame. I originally bought the frame (pictured above) to give to her but I liked it so much that I couldn't part ways with it. But she found out before I could go and buy a new frame. Let me explain.

I was planning on telling her and Katherine at the same time during mom's Birthday dinner. Her birthday was on a Wednesday but we had to wait a week and a half for a Saturday because of her schedule and Katherine's schedule.  On the Friday before the dinner mom came over to drop something off. I had the poster printed and in my purse. I ran upstairs to get something and Audrey pulled the poster out of my purse and handed it to my mom.  Then mom asked me what the date meant.

And that is how my mom found out. There was no pomp and circumstance like I had planned.  It was rather disappointing. Mom suggested that I call everyone that evening and tell them about it. I was thinking of waiting a little longer but she felt that it was important so I did. I called my dad, Michelle and Katherine. I was going to call some other people but ended up being on the phone with Michelle until really really late and called everyone else the next day.

For Katherine I was going to go and purchase a Cat toy and hand that to her in a baby shower bag. When I first told mom and Katherine about Audrey I bought a baby rattle and a bib that said "I love Grandma." Katherine opened the bag and had a bit of a panic attack and said "that's a cat toy...right?" It took her a few minutes to come to grips with the announcement. Don't get me wrong she was really excited about it. Just shocked.

I didn't get the chance to call my Grandma until Saturday morning. She was the first thing on my list of things to do. I called and told her the good news and she was really excited and very happy for us. Come to find out that mom spilled the beans to grandma the night before. BRAVO Grandma you fooled me into thinking you didn't know. BOOOO Mom.

Michelle just laughed and Dad and Veniece were at a Bowling Ally and they couldn't hear me very well. We didn't get to talk very long. But at least I was able to tell them.

Audrey seems excited about the new baby. But I don't think she quite understands whats happening. She keeps talking about how baby Gina (virginia, Michelles little girl) is going to be coming and living with us. I think it will make more sense when I have a belly and when it gets closer to the due date. The Hospital that I'll be delivering at has a class for older siblings. I'm thinking of taking her to the class when I get closer to the due date so she understands a little more about what is going to be happening.

It's been a good (not really) pregnancy so far but right now I feel like a really bad parent. I haven't spent much quality time with Audrey the last few weeks. I've been sick as a dog and I just haven't had any energy. About two weeks after I found out (I believe it was my 7th week) I got a really bad flu and wasn't just tossing my cookies because of morning sickness. I was really sick with a high fever and a horrible stomach bug and then when the flu/fever subsided I was left with a horrible cough that developed into Bronchitis and was on antibiotics that had nausea as a side affect. It was a miserable week and a half. I still have my bronchitis cough two weeks later. UGH.

Most evenings I'm in bed just hoping that the nauseousness subsides. It never does. But Audrey is a sweet little thing, during all of this mess, I'll tell her that I'm not feeling well and she'll come and give me a hug and sit with me. It's been really cute but still I feel bad that I'm not playing with her.

Well that's that. I don't normally do this but I'm wanting to know how did you guys tell family and friends about the new addition to your families? Did you do something fun or did you just call them up? I really am interested in knowing.

Oh, by the way, I'm 9 weeks today.
