Signs, Sounds and Words

Lately Patrick and I have noticed how easy it is to communicate with Audrey. She has learned lots of words. Most of them she can sort of speak but she knows a lot of them in sign language. And i just wanted to take the opportunity to tell you some of the words that she knows.

Here is a list of words that she knows how to say. (I know there are more but I can't think of anymore)
  1. Mommy (very very clear)
  2. Daddy (also very very clear)
  3. Audrey
  4. More
  5. Milk
  6. Juice
  7. Shoes
  8. Hi
  9. Bye
  10. Pinks (her stuffed animal)
  11. puppy
  12. Kitty
  13. Outside
  14. Soft
  15. All done
  16. Currently we are working on Amen
Here is a list of words that she knows in Sign Language. (again there are more but i can't think of them.)
  1. Please
  2. Hungry
  3. More
  4. Milk
  5. candy
  6. Apple
  7. Shoes
  8. Brush your teeth (this one is cute. This morning while patrick was brushing his teeth audrey came up to me and did the sign of brush your teeth to me and I brushed her teeth. Good that she is learning hygiene early.)
And finally here are some things that she does.
  1. She loves to play peek a boo. And will mimic the inflection in my voice for the words peek a boo.
  2. She will grab the brush and start to brush her hair.
  3. she loves to sing. and Sings whenever the radio is on.
  4. If she has soiled herself (and she notices) she will go and get a diaper and the wipes and will lay down with the two items in hand. If she doesn't notice she will go and get the diaper when asked to do so.
  5. (I love this) Every morning after i pull her out of the crib she will walk into the living room and lay down next to the cubby that holds the diapers and wipes. First thing! I love it!
  6. If you give her something and ask her to she will throw it away. I don't throw diapers away any longer. she is happy to run it over to the garbage and put it in. She will find trash and throw it away with out asking. And she even creates trash (a.k.a she will find a perfectly good piece of paper and rip it up just so she can throw it away.)
  7. When she wants to go outside she will say shoes and then go find everyones shoes. then she will find our cell phones, give it to us and then she will say outside and go stand next to the door.
  8. She will fold her arms and say a little prayer. Sometimes her prayer will be after family prayer. Sometimes it will be during. All that matters is she is learning to pray.
  9. Her movies are on the lower shelf of the DVD stand. She will walk over to the stand and pick out one of her movies and bring it to us so that she can watch it. She really loves little mermaid.
  10. She loves to jabber on our cell phone. She'll go and get them and act as though she is having a conversation with someone on the other line. I think it's cute.
  11. If you ask she will show you where her belly button is and her head. We've been working on toes for a while but she hasn't caught on to that
I believe that is all that i can think of at this moment.

Loves,
Elizabeth, Patrick and Audrey

How cute! My niece who is about Audrey's age will tap her head and say, "think, think think." Just like Winnie the Pooh. Then she will wave bye and just jabber. I love little kids this age (even though they can be buggers). I can't wait to start having my own.

Shelby's the same age and we can't get enough. I haven't thought to teach her sign. I did with Caden, but stopped when he wanted to sign instead of talk. Frusterating! My favorite is when they really try to mimic whatever you're doing or saying. They are the cutest at this age.
