What's Been Happening?

I really need to be better at posting about what is going on. It's been a few weeks... but to be fair not too much has happened and school was ending at UVU which made work a little hecktic and the Baby Contest is in a month and I'm not going to be here for it and need to get everything done ASAP.

So here are the things that have happened and i will expound on.
  1. Audrey tor her finger nail off
  2. Michelle Graduated
  3. We visited the Bean Museum and the BYU Museum of Art.

About 3 weeks ago, while Mom and I were at a funeral in Salt Lake, Audrey started to get curious about the kitchen, particularly the drawer under the stove. Normally this drawer holds various pots and pans and is not too dangerous but I put the cheese grater in this drawer. Big MISTAKE!

This is a picture of the cheese grater. ( It's pretty awesome...it has 4 different blades)

Fortuantly for me this picture has the correct blade. You chefs can tell me what blade that is. I'll call it the V shaped.

Audrey became curious of the V shaped blade and put her finger in side it...and...got it stuck. She ran over to Patrick screaming "help, Help, Help." And Patrick tried the best he could to stretch the two sections apart so that she wouldn't get cut. But when audrey pulled her finger out she pulled about 3/4 of the finger nail off and took part of her finger with it. No, she did not cut any of it off she gashed the nail bed leaving a little bit of a crater.
I got the call from patrick as mom and i were getting in the car to come home. He told me what happened and i told him to take her to the E.R. but decided that $150 was a little too much and told him the go to the Insta-care. $35 is a much better price. (yes, i put a price on Audrey's health) On the way to the Insta-care patrick stopped at Walgreens to get some band aids and gauze with advise from Katherine. She thought that we could clean it up well enough. Don't worry Katherine was in the car holding a paper towel on Audrey's finger while he went inside.
Mom and I met up with them at the Walgreens. I took one look at her finger and decided that I wanted a professional to clean the wound. So off to the Insta-care we went.
It really wasn't that bad of a wait. I got there and immediately put our name on the list. Waited while the receptionist finished signing someone in. Signed Audrey in and waited about 5 minutes for the Nurse to call us back.
Audrey was such a brave little girl. And was so good about letting the doctor look at it. He ended up having to cauterize the wound with a silver concoction to stop the bleeding. Audrey did not appreciate that. I wouldn't either he literally had to burn her finger to stop the bleeding. Poor thing. The doctor did say that she didn't rip off the part of the nail that grows the nail. She should have a full healthy nail in a few weeks. but she might have a nasty scare under it from the gash.
On the way home we kept reminding her not to touch the "boo-boo" and to leave it alone. It only took about an hour for the word boo-boo to sink in. I believe it is her new favorite word. But she has been really really good about not playing with the band aids. I don't think the band aid is necessary now but Audrey is too attached to the boo-boo and the band aid and won't let it be free. I wouldn't want to look at it all the time. It would just remind me of how much pain i was in because of the boo-boo.

That is the story of the insta-care.

I think I'll finish up later. This is getting alittle long.
